For anyone interested in training to be an Ayurvedic Health Counselor or Practitioner, Patricia Wickman and her online school (Radiant Living Online School of Ayurveda) is an excellent choice. Patricia is a kind, caring, compassionate and very knowledgable instructor. She is very passionate about her calling and that makes the amount of new and challenging information so much more enjoyable to learn. She has made an incredible effort to provide a thorough education to prepare us to practice the wonderful art and science of caring for and helping heal the whole person through Ayurveda.I am trained as an allopathic physician in Family Medicine. For a variety of reasons which include feeling somewhat disillusioned with where healthcare is at in this country right now, I decided to resign from my job with Mayo Clinic in Eau Claire, WI.  I did not know what I really wanted to do, only that I still felt called to be a healer but not in the traditional Western sense that I had been practicing for 25 years.  When I learned of Patricia’s school and learned a little more about Ayurveda, I was intrigued.  My curiosity and desire to offer a more holistic way to heal that acknowledged the innate abilities and wisdom of each individual and their body eventually led me to sign up. I am now a year two intern.For the future, I would love to eventually establish an Ayurvedic Wellness Center and Spa. I would also love to “bring this on the road” so to speak as retreats offering Ayurvedic guidance for healing out in some of Nature’s spectacular settings. I am not sure exactly what it will all look like but it is an exciting journey.Finally, to really appreciate how Ayurveda can help the mind body and spirit well-being of any individual, you start with how it does so for you. As a doctor I have such a different vision of health now for myself and my clients (let alone friends and family). I am very grateful to be a part of Patricia’s program and am so appreciative of her gifts as a teacher.Please let me know if I can answer any questions from a student’s perspective.
